LAOJoe's Bracket: March 5th, 2011

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE BRACKET IN A LARGE CLEAN TABLE

I will try and get it all typed here later but for now you can look at it at the link above. You guys probably do that anyways to begin with.

Games through March 4th, 2011.
I followed the procedures and hopefully I don't have any rematches.

There is one obvious procedural error that I will ignore at the moment. There are 2 SEC teams in the same half of a bracket. As I do not think there is another team worthy of a 9 seed or a 5 seed(or for an SEC team to move up), and because it is still relatively early, I will leave it as is.

Only one major change with Murray State losing and I swapped around a few teams so that ODU and ND won't get a 2nd round rematch of last year's tourney. Also, I have Washington State slipping from a first 4 out to near the end of the bubble. Their best player was suspended indefinitely for possession of marijuana.

The winner of the East Regional would play the winner of the West Regional.
The winner of the Southeast Regional would play the winner of the Southwest Regional. Autobids in ALL-CAPS.

Last Four In (First 4 Participants): Virginia Tech, Memphis, Butler, Michigan
Last Four Out:
Colorado State, Southern Miss, Clemson, Nebraska

10 More On The Bubble:
Alabama, Penn State, Colorado, Marshall, Drexel, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Washington State, UTEP, New Mexico

ADDED IN:
MOREHEAD STATE
DROPPED OUT:
MURRAY STATE

Bids By League:
BIGE-11, BIG10-6, ACC-5, BIG12-5, SEC-5, ATL10-3, MWC-3, PAC10-3, COL-2, HORIZ-2, CUSA-2, WCC-2

Some shuffling. Michigan replaces Colorado, Memphis holds on for now, and I gave BYU a 2 seed for now. I think it will turn out that if BYU wins out including the MWC tournament then they will get a 2 seed. It could be credited to a bad matchup vs New Mexico since they lost to them before. If they lose before the Dance then BYU will likely be a 3 or 4 seed.

The winner of the East Regional would play the winner of the West Regional.
The winner of the Southeast Regional would play the winner of the Southwest Regional. Autobids in ALL-CAPS.

A bit of seed shuffling due to recent results and RPI changes. Penn State falls out and it was difficult to find a replacement. Settled with Colorado as they have some big wins and a good chance of keeping themselves in the bracket going forward compared to others such as Michigan, Clemson or Marshall.

The winner of the East Regional would play the winner of the West Regional.
The winner of the Southeast Regional would play the winner of the Southwest Regional. Autobids in ALL-CAPS.

LAOJoe's Bracket: FEB 22nd, 2011

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE BRACKET IN A LARGE CLEAN TABLE

I followed the procedures and hopefully I don't have any rematches. (outside the one mentioned below)
Autobids in ALL-CAPS. Games through Feb 21st.

Brought Boston College back in after some reevaluation. Wasn't too difficult to knock out Southern Miss after what was their 2nd best win go down the drain with UTEP's at-large hopes. There is a potential for a Purdue vs West Virginia rematch but unless seedings are changed it is unavoidable as all other 3 seeds are from the Big East. I try not to swap seeds to often before the final week. I also moved a play-in winner to play Duke instead of Ohio State. This was for 2 reasons. Firstly their is the unlikely scenario of a Texas Southern vs Kansas State rematch. The most important reason the switch was made was because Duke's Regional was too strong and the regions were too unbalanced. This switch caused them to be in acceptable parameters.

So discuss the bracket, the seeds and possible matchups.

The winner of the East Regional would play the winner of the West Regional.
The winner of the Southeast Regional would play the winner of the Southwest Regional.
